Intermittent signal from Ecu to number 1 fuel injector. Makes rough running. Any ideas for troubleshooting?

Daughter's 97 Camry 2.2 liter runs rough.  Mechanic diagnosed as
intermittent loss of signal to number 1 fuel injector.  What do I look for to
remedy?

Possible bad connection at the injector....bad wiring from injector to ecu.....bad ecu. A Digital Volt Ohm meter is needed for diagnosis. An injector test light called a Noid light is also helpful. Both these items can be purchased at an Auto Pzrts Store for less than 50 bucks.
