key sticking

Asked by lanastasi Mar 29, 2016 at 08:46 PM about the 1997 Toyota Camry CE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have replaced my Toyota keys twice and the key still sticks when attempting to start the vehicle.  I have to turn the key around or use another key.
I have also used a dry ignition substance in the ignition.  The keys will stick periodically?

Is your second key a factory key or one you had copied from the key that's not working so well? If you are just getting copies from the original key that is sticking, that may be why your other keys are sticking also. Something about the original key may be worn down just enough to cause your copies to be bad as well.....just a thought.
