Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello,

My 1995 Toyota Camry LE 2.2 fan will not start
unless the AC is on. Sometimes it will go on by
itself when the engine is warm but usually not.

Sounds like the fan(s) are functioning properly. Does the Engine overheat? What does the Temp Gauge read while you are driving the vehicle?

Fans work fine once AC is turned on, car does not overheat however (funnily enough) same part of the highway everyday (getting of Hutchinson parkway exit 13 to the Cross Bronx Expressway) temperature goes up about 3/4 to red and then goes back down. I turn on the AC and let the heat go and it quickly goes back to normal temp. Today I added antifreeze to overflow resivor before I started driving (cold engine) and it did the same thing.
