I have many electrical failures occur all at once: unable to shift, no dash instrument gauges working, tail lights out, air conditioner out, radio out, power windows & door locks out, wipers out

Asked by JTC3 Sep 19, 2016 at 02:19 AM about the 2001 Toyota Avalon XL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

This happened after I pulled the battery out to charge it.  I put it back in and
used the key fob to disarm the security system.  Initially the car wouldn't
even start but I located the multiport fuel injection system fuse that was
blown and I replaced it and the car started; but then the electrical issues
appeared immediately upon starting the car.  None of which were issues
prior to removing the car battery.

All those items are also connected to the Body Control Module. Go through all of your electrical system - fuses, relays, fusible links, harness and grounds. The BCM may need to be reflashed if it took a spurious jolt.
