im wondering should you change the battery cables or the terminals

i was having connection problems and my car was single clicking and wouldnt
start.So my mech tightened up the batt terminals and the starter screw and she
started.But hes telling me to change both terminals and the positive wire.What
should i do?Ok i can see changing the two top batttery teminals but is it
necessary to change the whole pos wire also?

Since the vehicle is 27 years old and the battery cables are probably original to the vehicle I'd replace the cables if it were my car. But just replacing the terminals won't hurt anything. Just remember to put some Vaseline on the terminals before you hook them back up to the battery. They'll never corrode again. Hope that helps! Jim
