Why do my VSC trac and VSC off lights come on?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2004 4Runner and when I start it there are no lights on the dash.
When I put it in gear, as soon as I move, the vsc trac and vsc off light both
illuminate. I only have to move an inch. ABS light is not on. What could cause
this?

Most common is wheel speed sensors. The system needs checked by a professional.
As Gene said, the most common cause for this, if only those warning lights are on, is a wheel speed sensor. But Stability and Traction systems are intricate and other components can cause this too, so DO have a mechanic diagnose this..... If however, those lights are accompanied by a Check Engine Light, the cause could be myriad things, as the computer automatically disables stability and traction features when it illuminates the CEL.
If it was a wheel speed sensor the ABS light would be on. It was an issue with the VSC not being properly initiated.
