why might my check engine light on my 1997 4runner come on?

Asked by flashburns Jan 15, 2007 at 04:33 PM about the 1997 Toyota 4Runner 4 Dr Limited 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

There could be a number of problems that could cause the check engine light to come on. It could range from something as simple as the gas cap not being screwed on tight enough or something more serious that needs immediate attention. I would recommend getting the car checked over by a mechanic just to make sure that you are not doing any damage by continuously driving the vehicle.
