If you can hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key on it is probably good.

What it is an electronic pump that only runs when engine cranks? Not when the ignition is turned on before cranking over? If you cant hear it and you are not sure, a sure fire simple method is with a little cup, you take the fuel hose off the filter (if its easily accessible) between tank and filter have a helper do a quick crank and see if gas comes out. Then you know the pump in the tank is good. Then take the hose off the other side of filter to the engine and see whether gas comes out or not. Now also it may be the pump is losing pressure to 'pump' out the gas and 80 or 90 psi and its dribbling out at 20 or 30 psi. So, get a pressure test kit you can may be able to rent somewhere and hook up to the hose off of the filter on the fuel pump side and follow you tube instructions on the proper procedure on how much psi your make/model requires pumping at... hope this helps. And good luck!
