Unfortunately if the motor turns over fast, there are two reasons, one, the camshaft locks up in the cyl head from being so hot and then the timming belt usually jumps a few teeth if not breaks. The second reason is much worse. If the motor gets really hot, the rings on the pistons get so hot that they loose there tension and can "shrink" resulting in no compression, it will all become just "blowby", and that usually means scored pistons and cylinder walls, and will need a complete overhaul. WHY DID YOU KEEP DRIVING! mine has 281K miles and all original drivetrain, my other has 202K and I beat the crap out of it.

I dumped my V6 in favour of a Lexus 4.7 V8. My V6 was grossly underpowerd ( bought new) and had a professional mechanic who specialises in engine transplants. Had to fit a 3.0 litre Turbo Diesel Surf radiator with twin thermo electric fans for town traffic. Best investment I ever did. 60% more economical on fuel and LPG plus 200% increse in torque and power. Changed the diffs frm 4.34 to 4.1 ratios and motor turns over at 2100 rpm at 110 KMH with 285/75/16 tyres
