Can't get my new emission test on my 2000 suzuki grand vitara , due to my brake light on the dash being continuously on. Any idea how ? Brakes work great.

I did check the DOT-3 Brake fluid level, and it is at the Max line, so I'm guessing that there wouldn't be a leak. I feel like a couple years ago, during a random time of engaging the parking brake, then later disengaging, the light just stayed lit. Could it be electrical?
