Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am looking to buy a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer for $3600.00 but it has 200,000 miles on it. I don't drive more than 5,000 miles a year. But my husband is afraid it has dual overhead cam with a timing belt which is hard to change.

Need to know which engine it has, the 4.2L DOHC has a timing chain, so on that one definitely would have the timing chain inspected as the chain guides wear and the chain stretches being so long, and the 5.3L has also a timing chain but it is a V8 with just the normal Chevy timing chain in it.

Yes that is the 4.2L a inline 6 cylinder. So that has the DOHC with the long timing chain, chain tensioners, chain guides. This sounds like a good price, but you would want the valve train, (timing chain) checked for slop and wear on the guides. 200,000 miles is a lot of miles.
