Sometimes I need to punch on the passenger dash board in order for the ac to turn on (Chevy Impala 2006) someone said it might be the fan motor, how true could this be?

Next time instead of punch or smack reach under glove box and give a wiggle test to your blower or multimeter and check for voltage for an actual diagnosis ...

@Shlomo wont i need to remove covering for all that (please excuse me as I am very air headed when it comes to vehicles) plus i wouldn't know what a multi meter would look like. I mentioned my question to a "mechanic" he said that would be it and was trying to charge me around $230 @Tennisshoes thanx for your response if indeed your right i saw a video where it doesn't look to difficult to replace

take your automobile down to your local shop and the technician should be able to diagnose the problem with the malfunctioning ac

@tennisshoes so what likely am i dealing with? when i "punch", which i actually smack, the dashboard simply for the reason of wanting my air conditioning to start blowing, in which it does

@Tennisshoes thanks for your help i will save money & replace the blower myself since i don't see it difficult in doing; hopefully all is well after that, If not i might have to prepare to dig into the bank for somebody to change out a resistor or bad ground
