Single loud "pop" when ignition turned, no turnover. 2006 Chevy Impala LS

Asked by Electron_flow May 02, 2015 at 07:07 PM about the 2006 Chevrolet Impala LS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello,

My Impala won't start, but makes a loud pop from the engine compartment when the
ignition is turned.  All others electrical seems ok. I tested fuses and relays, all check out
ok.  Cleaned the battery terminals and disconnected battery for 30 minutes to reset BCM.
Any way to test a starter without expensive equipment or any other ideas? I have a DMM.

Thank you so much ch for your time!

You can test starter at auto zone for free. The chip in the key may have went bad and not sending the signal
