Idles fine but dies when I put it in gear and try to drive

Asked by tunerdude0511 Feb 15, 2019 at 12:09 AM about the 1992 Subaru Loyale 4 Dr STD 4WD Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Me and my buddy recently did a tune up on
his 92 Subaru loyale (spark plugs, spark plug
wires, distributor cap, fuel filter, and the
ignition coil, oil change and oil filter change).
After we completed the tune up it took awhile
to get the car to idle by itself at about 1000
rpm but when we put it in gear to drive it
sputters and dies! We can’t figure out what
the problem is. HELP PLEASE!!!!

Try a good fuel system cleaner like Techron. I am assuming your car is fuel injected. Try cleaning the throttle body.
