Major stalling everytime I fill up my 2006 Chevy Cobalt

Asked by AngelWinters Jun 12, 2019 at 09:23 PM about the 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt LS Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The check engine light was on when I purchased the car, I
got it checked and the code that popped up was P0449 it
revealed a problem with the bent valve solenoid aka the
emission system. I've been told that should not contribute
to the problem my car has been having in regards to
stalling out when I fuel up. It will only stall out when I start
it up but when I fuel up it usually takes 10-15 minutes to get
my car to run long enough to get it into drive, it is an
automatic.

probably a bank code. if you can find a way to test fuel pump pressure to the block, do so. parts store MIGHT be able to help with that. Check gas filter too

An older mechanic told me that if the fuel pump was going out i would be able to build the pressure up by turning the key to the on position for 2 or 3 seconds and back off about 5 times but that didnt make any difference. The only way I can get my car to run after I fuel it up is to rev it up into the 3k-4k range and let it sit there for a while and I still have to do that a couple times.
