If the timing chain is broken or has jumped time it may be possible that just the complete cylinder head and timing chain and tensioner could be replaced. This would likely cost less than an engine. It is also possible that the timing chain jumped time and there is no damage to the valves in the cylinder head, but is is unlikely. Keep us posted on what you find.

1st hook up a oem first to show a code problem. 2nd If not previously recorded in OEM. Have mechanic at two different shops look at it. This could be a lot of things. Fuel pump going out. A timing problem somewhere, could be a easy fix. Just make sure not to tell the second mechanic what the first mechanic said it was. Leave him to tell you. This is not the time to take the car to a low end shop. Go to a dealer shop first to get there opinion for an estimate only. Thats the smartest thing you can do first. then depending on the problem pick the best mechanic for that problem that's cheaper in your area to fix the job. Get a written estimate first before the mechanic works on it.
