Car runs rough!!

Asked by emccar9638 Sep 24, 2010 at 11:24 AM about the 1995 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bot a 1995 roadster from a private owner 6 months ago with 33,900 miles.  After six months the car has put on 600 miles so as you can see its mostly garaged.  twice in the last month I took the car out and realized it was running very rough.  In Drive it would come close to stalling.  No problem in Park or Neutral.  Has anyone experienced a similar problem?  Gene

Yup sounds like the Optispark unit has gone bad. These sit right in front of the motor under the water pump. Any rain, water, or coolant will cause these units to fail. Replace it with an updated unit that has a vent. The reason why it feel fine in neutral is because there is very little load. In higher load conditions the weaker spark will cause a skip.
