Anyone ever replace the ashtray with a cupholder?

I've been thinking about making a modification.  I don't smoke, the the ashtray is a glorified change holder.  Anyone ever try to put in or try to make a cupholder for this space?  I'm thinking about making one out of a chunk of soft wood to slide in and out.  If you've done something like this, let me know!!

I've actually been thinking that I might just put my XM radio there or clean it up and use it as a change holder. I'll figure out something else for another cup holder. I don't really like having a cup holder under the armrest area.
