I need instructions on replacing the spark plug wires on my 2003 Subaru Baja

Asked by DUCKTOM May 19, 2014 at 06:31 PM about the 2003 Subaru Baja AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have purchased the new wire kit and had an auto shop run a diagnostic.  Cylinder #4 is misfiring and it appears that particular wire is arcing.  I've never replaced the wires and the car has 167,000 miles on it.

It's pretty simple, unplug one wire plug the new one in it's place. Repeat till all 4 have been replaced.

PS, thank you NICK. Spark plug wires are changed. Any suggestions on replacing spark plugs?

Same sort of deal, replace them one at a time. Put some anti-seize on them before you put the new ones in, snug them but don't over tighten them. You'll need a ratchet, one or 2 extentions, a wobble socket to get the angle you'll need and a spark plug socket.

Thanks, Nick. Actually, the process is quite extensive but I appreciate the quick response.

OK. I saw a YouTube instructional that took me step by step through the process. I'll give it a try. Thanks again!

PS: My 2003 Baja has the sport lamps mounted on top. I cannot find the plastic covers that snap over them and Subaru has stopped making them. One of them is gone because it broke and the other one is cracked. I replaced them once before years ago when Subaru offered them. Any ideas?

I would keep an eye on EBAY, but I can probably check a couple of my Subaru parts source websites tonight and let you know what I find.

Thank you! I may have to find another manufacturer of head lamps that would be compatible.

Can you possibly post a pic of the lamps, just so I am sure of what I am looking for?
