Random/ multiple misfire

Asked by Roy May 04, 2019 at 08:38 PM about the 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So recently my check engine light came on for
multiple misfire and some other things. I changed
what it said was wrong it worked for all of about an
hour. After that i got another multiple misfire but
this time when accelerating the light would blink.
Now i know something is wrong. Could a clogged
cat cause the multiple misfires?

No.. just because a scan throws a code don't necessarily mean that part is bad.. you need to run some diagnostics. Multiple cyl misfire I'd start with the basics have u checked your spark plugs and wires? If not I'd look toward the ignition coil packs or in that general direction.

I have the same thing happening with my truck and I have been told to check for vacuum leak at the injectors or intake gasket. I haven't got the money together to get the gasket kit to do mine yet so I'm not 100% sure if that is gonna fix it. Hope this helps.
