My 06 Grand Prix won't crank over and can't hear the fuel pump. Also noticed code reader won't connect. Checked all fuses and relays. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm fresh out.

Check continuity between the battery ground and the engine a bad inline fuse to the starter would still allow you to hear the starter solenoid click when you hit the key.

Are you certain that the trans is in either park or neutral? The engine will not crank if any gear is selected, it's possible that the trans gear selector switch has failed preventing the engine from cranking.

That wouldn't prevent the code reader from working and it also wouldn't prevent you from jumping the starter with a metal object like a screw driver.

The code reader not functioning is a different situation from the starter circuit, for all we know that reader may be faulty, one should get a proper scanner on the system to check it. The starter not cranking when *jumped* needs to be checked with either a voltmeter or a test light...test both the main battery & solenoid terminals at the starter to see if voltage is present when needed .... possible situations are.... 1. the individual is not doing it properly 2. the starter has internally failed 3. the main positive + battery cable circuit from the battery to the starter has a problem and is not passing current............ if battery voltage is at the large terminal and also the solenoid terminal when the key in the *start* position then the starter has failed, is there is no voltage at the solenoid terminal when the key is turned to *start* then the problem is upstream, the first place to look is the trans gear selector switch. Note that this has nothing to do with a no fuel pump pressure situation.
