I replaced the CV axles

Asked by Noah Jan 16, 2019 at 12:53 AM about the 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced the CV axle on my passenger side on my 2005 Grand Prix supercharged GTP. The issue I am having is after I replaced it there's no change besides it no only grinds in Park instead of all gears. The biggest issues that has me confused is that its not engaging in any gear that I select and if I didn't have the parking break on it would roll with my car off. Can some one please shine some light on this I'd so very much appreciate it.

Sounds like the new axle shaft is either the wrong one or is somehow not properly seated in the transmission. Not sure if that’s even possible. After that I’d be checking the transmission itself. Could be some sort of catastrophic (expensive) failure.
