Driver information center does NOT display the date nor can I get into the usual setup options.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

What have I done?
I removed the HVAC Control Panel from my 2004 Gran Prix GT to investigate burnt out indicator lamps.
Contrary to all the instructions I failed to disconnect the battery before starting.
When I replaced the unit and started the car I received a ‘Charging System Failure’ on the car’s driver information center screen.
I thought this was due to a low battery as I had left the doors and trunk open while I was inside opening up the Control Panel.  I jumped the car with one of those lithium battery packs (Power Bolt Power D28A, pretty cool first time I need to use it).  Car started OK.
However, now the driver information center does NOT display the date nor can I get into the usual setup options (delayed door lock, light dim delay, etc.).  The trip odometer works, whoopee!
Have I fried my computer?  How do I get this corrected?

Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, then reconnect it to reset the computer.

Is it a stock radio? If it's an aftermarket head unit, the date information on DIC will not work no matter how many times you set it.
