I would go with a good flush, do it two times and see what happens, Did you check the pump to make sure its working correctly ?
i changed the water pump too. sorry left that out after i changed that thats when my coolant elbows busted.
And make sure you don't have air trapped in the system. Air pockets in the system will cause overheating issues.
There is a bleeder valve on or near the thermostat housing. It can be a bit tricky getting all the air out. I've heard filling the system with the nose of the car pointed uphill helps a little, but I haven't tried it so don't know if its true or not. When all else fails it is sometimes worth the money to have a shop equipped with the proper vacuum tool do it because it simply won't cool properly if its not filled properly.
