Would have a look at the serpentine belt and see if that is loose. Sometimes the belt tensioner binds up and the belt can loosen. Would also make sure your oil level is at the full mark as well. Good Luck!

Sorry you did not get an answer that solved your problem on your 10/18 post. I am thinking this may be your catalytic converter causing your noise and lack of power. There is a heat shield on the top side that sometimes rusts away and rattles against the pipe or a frame member. With the car running have a listen on the underside of the engine around the front/side of the car while a friend increases your engine speed (while in park!) to see if you can hear the noise on the outside. The loss of power can be caused by the internals of the converter breaking down and plugging the flow of exhaust. Have it checked out at a reliable shop for both. Cat's are typically welded into place so it is not an easy driveway job.

Still get someone to check the catalytic converter even though it was put on there last year?

Taver's suggestion was good, but if the catalytic converter is new its highly unlikely that's the problem. Have the spark plugs been changed ever? It's easy not to these days. My car started to act similar to yours and I realized I had never even looked at the spark plugs. They were beyond worn out and the engine could barely run. New plugs... new car. That's just maintenance. May not fix the problem. If it doesn't, or if it doesn't need new plugs, scan it for trouble codes. The computer probably knows what's wrong and is just waiting for someone to ask.
