Key won't turn after girlfriends mistake

My girlfriend was going to borrow my car 2004
Pontiac Grand Prix she inserted the wrong key to
the ignition and attempted to start it multiple
times. Now My key that is the correct key for the
device will not turn ignition did she trigger some
sort of security feature?  I was looking on steps to
replace ignition lock cylinder when I came across a
video showing that you must reprogram the key.
Because the car when the wrong Keys inserted and
attempted to start the ignition does this lock the
cylinder?. Is there any way to reset it or must it be
replaced.

It can be reset, but you will need to bring it to the dealership to have it done !

If you cannot turn the key in the cylinder lock, either have to call a locksmith to see if he can repair it, or the cylinder lock and key would need to be replaced. And yes the new key and locking cylinder would need to be reprogrammed. And there is a procedure to do this.

Reprogram your key it takes 30mins. Turn your key on the ignition for 10mins and and position for 10sec repeat this step 3 times and your car should be reprogrammed
