My 04 Pontiac Grand Prix keeps giving me a engine code
for evaporative malfunctioning change the valve under the
hood and the canister what else on this particular vehicle
or common problems associated with evap malfunction it
also has trouble taking fuel sometimes when I first started
it will run rough and then die otherwise runs good

Gas cap, crack somewhere in the fuel vapor purge lines. Smoke test recommended.

This is telling us you have a leak in the EVAP system. The leak could be too small to be seen with the naked eye. The best thing to do is have a smoke test done. Smoke is forced into the EVAP system through the gas tank. The mechanic then inspects the EVAP system lines and other components to see where the smoke comes out. Where the smoke comes out is where the leak is. Hope that helps! Jim
