installed aftermarket cd player and instrument lights stopped working

I just installed a cd player in my 02 pontiac and when I was just about to put the deck in and screw it in the instrument lights shut off. now i have no lights for my tach/ heat controls/ anything/ dummy lights still work but thats it. what went wrong and how do i fix it?

Wire it properly - You blew a fuse. Buy the adapter wire harness from car to radio - makes things easy
