On the 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 2 DOOR, I'm assuming, you'll need the heavy duty 4T65-E, if your running the L67 - ENGINE 3.8L SFI,V6,SUPERCHARGED AUTO 4 SPD. The actual answer I would give you is none are interchangeable. Why are you asking?? If you don't mind me asking as there is a lot to the trannys, it's usually smarter to figure out what's broken and unbroken it.. Not just any ole 4T65- HD will work. Did you blow it up? That's hard to do if you did. Really the only thing to do is get the exact one you have in there now and there's a reason, gearing and the electronics, but here are some trannys you could work from but there is a problem with just going out and grabbing one out of say, my Regal GS and a warning again never hurts, the gearing and electronics are different. But here's some info anyhow. The 4T65E-HD (code MN7) is a heavy duty version of the 4T65-E used with more powerful engines such as the LS4 V8 and L67/L32 supercharged V6. The 2.93:1 MN7 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi L67, Chevrolet Impala L67, Chevrolet Monte Carlo L67, ((Pontiac Grand Prix GTP/GXP)), and the Buick Regal GS or the Buick Riviera L67 (97-99). In the MN3 the 1997-2004 Buick Regal V6 3.8 L LS/LSE. So, that sounds fairly straight forward, nope, Keep this in mind, seriously, replacing a complete transaxle should only be done if a unit is verified to be the same as the unit it replaces, as in addition to the up to 12 variants of the final drive ratio, ((different applications and years can and will have incompatible electronics)). The use of an incorrect transaxle will result in a total non-functioning of the transaxle. These are electronic. UNLESS, you really know what your doing.
