Check the fluid level,if memory serves this car has no dipstick only a red cap screwed into top of trans driver side under exaust crossover pipe. Inquire at a qualified service center chevy dealer as pontiac is out of business fluid type is a plus 4 i may be wrong on that incorrect fluid WILL cause damage to internal components. As will incorrect levels ie over filled. This problem my require repair by a qualified transmission shop. Just remember do your homework on shop BEFORE authorizing repairs so you dont get burned. Consult owners manual on fill proceedure. If yours is gone goole can provide you w a pdf to print. Hope that helps.
