My 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix loses power when I turn the key to start. Instantly. Then the key gets stuck. I can get a jump and the car starts and let's me drive to my destination. I can then cut the car off and remove key. But when I try to start again, same thing.

Let's go with basics Laura. Bad battery, and/or corrosion on battery terminals. A jump will get you going, and if it runs Ok then indicates no alternator problem, if alternator was bad, the battery would not carry the load needed to run if battery is bad. Now the key getting stuck, I think you mean it won't return to 'run' from 'start' on it's own...right? then ignition switch is faulty and may be the cause of all the problems.
