transmission won't go in overdrive

iv'e tried changing fluid,had mechanics look at solinoids,sometimes when i start the car it will shift jerky and then it will go in overdrive,but when i turn the car off the shifting smooths back out and theirs no overdrive

Hi Mackie. Sounds like you need a more sophisticated diagnosis here. There could be a electronics related issue here. Either put it in front of a Pontiac dealer or a transmission specialist. Good luck!
