I've been working on my 1999 pontiac grand prix gt 4 door sedan 3.8 so I can have my grandson drive it to school. I've done minor maintenance but one problem lead to another. Here's what I've done, oil change, spark plugs and wires, changed out thermostat, temperature sensor, water level sensor, made sure all relays, fuses are good, repaired cracked radiator and filled radiator with antifreeze. So my problem is that the car overheats. I've checked the water pump and water is flowing. I turned on the a/c to see if the fans were working and were not working. I unplugged the fan connection and jumped it direct to the battery and they turned on. So I unplugged the water temperature sensor and the fans turned on! The only thing I have not done yet is to see if I'm getting any power from the PCM to the fan connection. So I'm stumped and needing a little help. Thank you

Most cars of your vintage also incorporate a "fuseable link" between the battery and the cooling fans. Works just like a fuse and if it has blown, you will get no power to your fan motor(s).
