Cold air then warm air

I have a 2005 Pontiac grand am se with a 2.4 liter engine. Heater blows cold
on the selector of defrost, defrost n floor, and all other but when I select to
direct air from just out of the dash, it is warm air, not hot, but warm air. What
is the solution to this issue.
