my 2004 pontiac grand am sputters when accelerating from a stop sign but it drives fine for the first 3 or so blocks. today when i shut the car off i could not get it started it wouldnt even turn over at all or crank.

Sounds like there is a problem with either the alternator, or battery if it will not turn over, and the sputtering sounds like the engine needs a going over, a tune up.
