Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am GT with a blown ram air 3.4, and i have a motor from a 2005 Grand Am SE 3.4. Will I be able to replace the blown ram air motor with the regular 3.4? If so, what would i have to do to make it work, as far as swapping the intakes or ???

I don't see why not. The '04 and '05 are the same 5th generation, same N platform same 3.4L V6, from 1999 to 2005. Use the engine with the fewest miles. The ram air GT has only 5 horsepower more, 205 for the SE and 210 for the GT, so that is not a concern. There is a guy, tenspeed, that knows a lot more about Grand Ams than I do, hopefully he will see this and either confirm or correct me But I think you can swap them no problem.

You know that car is a "keeper." SE models and GT sedans were discontinued in 2005, since the G6 had been introduced as a replacement for the Grand Am. The GT coupe was also discontinued at the end of the 2005 model year. The last Pontiac Grand Am rolled off the assembly line in 2005.

The engines are exactly the same. --- The "Ram Air" was a more an advertising thing than a real enhancement. It is an air scoop that goes over the radiator that attaches to the intake. Regular Grand Am's have a intake behind the drivers side headlight. Many owners at the GAOwnersClub.com have removed the Ram Air duct work and replaced it with a cold air intake (CAI) in the drivers side fender. --- The GT also has a slightly larger exhaust diameter, dual exhaust muffler and a slightly lower gear ratio. The gears get it off the line. They also came with 16" tires and were governed at a higher top speed - 105 mph vs.120 mph.

My ? Is i have a 1999 SE GRAND AM, 2.4L. Can u have more HP by adding bolts on. To a 4L. Or by swapping to a V-6. HP wise the V-6. Has 175. & the 4L has 150. Or Is it even possible to swap a 4L for a V-6.
