If tapping sound in my 3.4L V6 for 2003 Grand Am Gt is not the lifters what else could it be?

Asked by David May 12, 2017 at 06:49 PM about the 2003 Pontiac Grand Am GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Replaced all lifters, all rods are straight, replaced 1 rocker due to gap
between the rocker block and head. Were separated due to improper
installation of a helicoil (was pinched). Put all back together and am still
having the tapping sound. Noticed that when at idle it taps and when RPM is
increased some, tapping subsides.
