How do u know when a transmission is going bad in 2002 pontica grand am

it will slip going out from a full stop. mine lasted 166k mi with 40k fluid & filter changes. since you have the service light on, get the trouble codes from it to see if you can fix the problems. post back what the codes are. also, how many miles on the odometer?

My transmission broke lost all my fluid and blowing smoke and it won't go in reverse is my transmission blown

What I meant was line broke and kept driving for 20 minutes did I blow the trnsmission
