Mass air flow sensor

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 pontiac grand am. I've replaced the
mass air flow sensor twice and it keeps going out.
I keep getting a "too low flow" code as well. What
could be causing my shit to keep going out? Also,
if the car is running with the maf unplugged it runs
great, plug it in with the car running, it stays going
good. Shut the car off bandwidth start it with the
maf plugged in, it runs like ass. Rpm's go down, it
sputters, can't rev it over 5000rpms.

How clean is your air filter? Also, using the wrong type of cleaner on the MAF will kill it and cause inaccurate readings.

Very clean, replaced not long ago. I've never cleaned the sensor I've just replaced them
