Exhaust Gas Recirculation - is a valve that opens to reburn exhaust gasses to reduce emissions. They sometimes stick open and cause idling problems.

Exhaust Gas Recirculation, a devlish little bugger which causes the engine to breathe it's own fumes.....akin to a "dutch oven" from the movie "pecker" which is only supposed to engage on decel, so just that much more exhaust can be gobbled up by your motor when it's not needed for power....when it's needed for power is supposed to disengage~

My tranny began shifting HARD, at a drive thru as I went from P to D. (twic And I pulled over to shut it off, it was SUPER HARD, as I slowly moved from D to P. Like I felt it .
