97 Pontiac Grand AM SE V6 starts but then dies after 3 seconds? HELP!

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi, I have a 1997 Pontiac Grand AM SE V6. I live in Naperville, IL and the
weather has been very very cold the past couple days, around 10 and in
the negatives. Started the car Saturday and Sunday morning and it drove
fine. Tried to start it this morning (Mon.) & when I put the key into the
ignition, it's kind of hard to turn. It's like really smooth but its almost like
frozen if that makes sense. Once I got it to start, it turned off immediately
after I take my hands off the ignition. I tried it again twice and then shut off.
It won't stay on more than 2 seconds. I don't know if it's the battery? I
replaced the battery in May so I don't think that's it. I'm gonna try to give it
a jump later on today. Any suggestions at all??? Please help!!

Going by you saying the ignition is hard to turn sounds like the ignition is sticking try spraying some WD40 with straw in and around ignition switch may help to unstick it.
