Question type: Maintenance & Repair

A few weeks ago took my car in for a starting issue.Needed a starter, battery and an ignition switch.all but the starter I had to pay for.But the security light is still on and it went  only once since the repairs were done.can I still drive it while it's on? It's NOT flashing and I can start it

I'd go back to the shop that did the work. They may be willing to scan it for additional trouble codes for free since they did all that work on it. The problem may be somehow related to what they did to the car in which case I would expect they would deal with it as part of their warranty.

Thanks you that, that's what I was thinking of doing. While on the same car. I have an issue in NOT to be able to use my key fob.I have put batteries and still isn't working. I've orders about 6 of them and only 1 that worked for about 6 hrs,but it willn't stay programed.I haven't been abled to use it for about 4 years.

There is a receiver in the car (I can't remember what it's called exactly) which can fail. It will need to be replaced and programmed, possibly by the dealer. It is likely not worth it for a car that old.

No idea on cost. The part, if available will likely have to come from an auto parts store. I'm not sure if non dealer shops will be able to program it or not. You'll have to call around.

Munron and ASKTRANNYMAN, has really helped me a whole lot on this and I thank you for that.I took MY car to Meinekea and they do very good work, usually that's why I am so shocked that they didn't made sure that light was out but they called me to say it was ready for pick up/I have called them and left a message about it and said that I was coming by there to have them look @ it

ok just came from Meineke the place that has done the work and they said @ frist that I needed another battery which I knew that wasn't right esp.,after it was a NEW one from them about 5-6 weeks ago.Said that they could have gotton a bad one from their source. I didn't get the battery, but they did did a code test on it and NONE was present .He said that they could take that seucituy light out, but I could run the risk of the car NOT starting@all so I didn't take the chance in doing it.They also said they could have taken THAT bulb out,but the dash board would have to come out to do it.Now question did I do right or was it something more that they could have done? One good thing did come out of that, they used a scan tool,so now I don't have to worry about my "check engine soon"like that comes on,RIGHT?

Thanks for that;) I know that the security light & the check engine soon light isn't the same thing Thiese are different issues all together. Not many olds dealers in my area,may-be a GM dealership. What you think?
