Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car idles high when first started up.  When it is put into gear it will not move until it has had time to sufficiently warm up. Why is this happening?

Or... you could just go straight to the transmission shop and have it rebuilt or replaced with a used one because that's where you'll ultimately end up anyway. Old worn out transmissions don't magically heal themselves with additives. Sorry Tennisshoes, it had to be said.
