who do I contact to get a new glove box and trunk key made?

Asked by audi100 Jun 04, 2008 at 12:01 PM about the 1993 Audi 100 CS Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just bought a '93 Audi 100 through private purchase. The key doesn't work for the trunk and the glove box locked and now I can 't unlock it. Would I contact Audi of America? The previous owner doesn't have the key, or so he states...

dealer is your best bet. but a new key will be expensive $200 or more. You get the seller to pay for that.

Did you get multiple keys? The way you describe it, it sounds like you only got the workshop key. Usually, these keys don't work on trunk and glove box. If you have another key, first try that one or ask the previous owner for other keys. If he claims he doesn't have others and you trust that he didn't keep them to snatch the car, then go to the dealer and order replacements. Otherwise, you might want to consider replacing the locking system (Expensive!)
