My 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis overdrive off keeps
flashing. What kind be the cause?

A flashing O/D means the transmission is overheating and there are trouble codes stored in the cars system. Scan for the OBDii trouble codes to determine the cause. P0700 numbers are transmission codes.
