01 grand marquis

I have a 2001 Grand Marquis with approximately
210000 miles on it when I attempt to start it up the
car starts then dies almost instantly unless I push
the gas pedal and I was wondering on what was
the case with that somebody please help me if it
would be greatly appreciated
