Asked by Dissappointed0wner51... Mar 02, 2020 at 09:43 PM about the 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis GS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Getting a p0401 error code came on 2 hrs. After
purchasing my vehicle. Does not run bad at all idles fine.
Im not familiar enough with the car to know for sure but it
feels like it should have more power. How do i pinpoint
issue in the most efficient and least expensive way?

This code means that the EGR tube is blocked. Remove the EGR valve and clean it and the tubes associated with it. Install a new gasket under the EGR valve before putting the EGR valve back on. Hope that helps! Jim
