Battery drain because interior lights turn on/off when car is parked.

Asked by Jeffrey Apr 14, 2018 at 10:53 PM about the 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis LS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

If I do not drive my car every 4-5 days my battery will go dead. I replaced the main headlight switch and they did not resolve the issue. Then, I was standing beside my car and saw the drivers door key pad light up and then the interior lights came on. So, now I'm thinking either the drivers door keypad or the key less control module it plugs into maybe shorting out causing the power drain. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

you probably have a parasitic drain , do a search , how are you at electrical trouble shooting ?

I have watched enough video's I know how to get it down to which fuse but most have 3-5 systems on a fuse, thus hoping someone else has had this same issue to narrow it down further.
