1999 grand Marquis battery light came on, steering locked up, and temperature gauge went to over heat

steering locked up like hard to turn the wheel but can be turned or in it lock position cant turn at all. all so did the eng die or was it still running

Engine still ran. Plus, there was no smoke coming from hood, even though the temp showed it was hot.

Belt probably came off due to idler or tensioner locking up due to bad bearing. Should be a pretty easy fix.
