1997 Mercury Grand Marquis quits every time I come to a stop light or stop sign

It will start again after it quits but have to turn it off and start up again, real problem in
traffic

Could be a vacuum leak in the vacuum assist braking diaphragm (if you have one) Start the car up and press the brake pedal ... if the car dies then look for a vacuum leak
